just for me, personal note, to avoid to lost 1h each time i want to test pulseaudio :
/etc/pulse/system.pa # load-module module-native-protocol-unix auth-anonymous=true
/usr/bin/pulseaudio --system -vvvv
paplay -v ./11\ -\ Crazy.mp3
Googled your guide on fan control and made a script. It's fixed. Deleted my question. a Suggestion: You can place an option to control fan speeds on emulation station menu for the people who are not familiar on command lines. Keep up the good work!
I really wanted a fan control option on the raspberry pi 3 since my wheel at maximum speed and it makes a lot of noise (known noise due to the small size of the fan ...) If there was any way to eventually add an option to make it run more "slowly" (consequently making less noise), would be great !!
the fan is normally handled on batocera. on which version do you have the problem ?
which action are you making that batocera doesn't ?
luizthiago Great idea ! Personally I use my fan in 3.3v and no noise
Genetik57 how i can do this ? use in 3.3v
i've rebuild a new version.
now i manage to make kodi working, but unfortunally, i guess that the changes in the kernel broke some things.
i'm looking for the hash i used wheni build it previously to build a new version with the kernel of december.
@nadenislamarre you need to use the HK 4.14 kernel from their repository.
Mainline doesn’t and will not ever include Mali GPU drivers
i don't find the "HK 4.14 kernel" on https://github.com/hardkernel/linux
can you give me a link please ?
i'm downloading a version of 2 january, when it worked : ce2e9895cc4e2942b1397ce80684d25f1e7cda42
last commit version doesn't work to me.
@memeka, i've realized that HK is HardKernel. So, yes, i'm using their kernel, sure.
i've a new problem with retroarch this time since several updates were done in january. I'm not sure at all it's the kernel while it seems to be related to retoarch only.
Once fixed, i'll able to release something.
But can you tell me more about usb3 issues you talk about ?
Basically hardkernel's repository for linux 4.14 has fixed the issues with USB 3.0 support which (I guess) are present on mainline.
Things like proper USB 3.0 reset after a reboot and UAS support are fixed.
You should be able to use their latest HEAD on their odroidxu4-4.14.y branch of https://github.com/hardkernel/linux
Just configure using odroidxu4_defconfig (which works on xu3/xu3-lite as well).
If you need to enable extra modules, then submit a request on the hardkernel forum so they can add them to the defconfig.
After make dtbs, make sure to copy all 3 of them to the fat32 boot partition:
The updated boot.ini should pick up the correct dtb for the device.
@MastaG thanks for that information. i will be able to release a xu4.14 batocera very soon (i've just a bug to fix and a script to modify)
note that for extra modules, buildroot provides a mechanism to do so :
for example, i've added that :
ok, things are going great.
i've build a new image.
i think that everything is working... except...
video in kodi... strange, it worked previously ;-(
it may be related to the ffmpeg version upgrade to version
FFMPEG_VERSION = 3.4.1
if something has an idea before i found it.

@nadenislamarre I say maybe bullshit, but on the odroid wiki at https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/os_images/linux/ubuntu_4.14/20171213. we can read that
- Mali GPU driver for framebuffer (fbdev) can be installed with "apt install mali-fbdev"
- Kodi 17.6 package for fbdev can be installed with "apt install kodi-fbdev".
otherwise you may have to ask for help on the forum https://forum.odroid.com/viewforum.php?f=146, but I think you know it.
@michel83 linux is just a program. You can build as many system as you want over it (not as windows, ie there is only one windows, and it always work the same way).
linux is different. What you tell applies to ubuntu (aka, linux for desktop, which more or less looks like windows for an end user). batocera is more like an embeded system, like your washing machine, your internet box or something else. it's completly different.one big different is that there is no package manager, ie basically, you cannot add program, ie the command apt does't exist.
the framebuffer is not more used with kernel 4.14, it's too buggy.
however, it's not the problem i have.
i've just a kodi video decoder issue, possibly just ffmpeg issue. i will fix it.
I understand, i m sorry, I thought that since version 4.x on xu4, batocera was built from ubuntu as retropie.
Thanks for your explanations.
@nadenislamarre yes it seems the issue with the kernel was from HK, i hope they fixed it ...
i thought you were talking about mainline linux from torvalds git, that is the one that the XU4 still has issues (like no GPU )
kodi/ffmpeg - try using the same ffmpeg as before...
can't wait for a final release!
